Dear Pond Family,
We are in the middle of building a
NEW, FULL SHEET of ICE called "The Barn"
in an adjoining 25,000 square foot space next door,
more than doubling our footprint! We will be offering tours of the facility at the end of June following Rink Tec's (Minnesota based Rink Builder) visit to Austin to finish the refrigeration system and concrete pad for the Ice.
Over the past two months we have been working away on the fall ice schedule. We feel strongly that youth and adult leagues in Austin should provide players with more skill development, consistent practice and game times, additional practices if desired, organized programming with a mission and philosophy that all coaches and families within the association subscribe to and execute.
A few additions to our fall hockey season include
5 v 5 Adult leagues
and
our new Mallards Minor Hockey League.
The MMHL is
open to all and will provide additional practices per USA Hockey recommendations for local players seeking more development. Our
competitive Mallards Tournament
teams will now have
Sean Skinner's
(world renown stick handling coach) team down for the 5 days of pre season training camp, and will attend a Systems and Concepts clinic, in addition to 4-5 tournaments over the season. We are also excited to
host
Robby Glantz
(NHL Power Skating Coach) for the third year in a row. Robby will skate with all of our MMHL and Mallards tournament team players this September. Robby has been outstanding for both our players and our coaches. Be sure to check out his segments on NHL Live.
We are working with the Directors of the Dallas Stars tournament series on our fall tournament schedule for our youth tournament teams. We plan to host our first youth 5 v 5 tournaments this fall for Squirts, Peewees and Bantams at The Barn!
Finally, Joe Bennet from USA Hockey is coming to The Pond this fall. He will meet with parents and coaches about USA Hockey's long term athlete development model. Lastly, and most importantly, we expect to have our Grand Opening for our new facility early this Fall. More information will be sent out later this summer!
Below you will see sign ups for all of our summer programming, in addition to selective information about our fall season.
As always, thank you for being a part of our Pond family. Together we are building a strong foundation and fun atmosphere of ice hockey here in Austin, TX.
See you at the Pond!
Sincerely,
The Pond Team
