JUNE 2016
Solano Land Trust eVistas
Our days can get so busy with to-do lists that we can miss the simple pleasures. My mom and son have a tradition of making a list of things they want to do over the summer so it won't just slip by. Usually his list includes hiking, swimming, having friends over to play, and going to the batting cages. This year he's finally old enough to hit the go-carts with his papa.

I hope you take the time to do what you love with the people you care about this summer. It's right around the corner!

And it's not too early to RSVP for our Sunday Supper celebration in October. We are bringing back our "farm to fork" dinner this year and hope to see you there!

A list of favorite hikes

My son and I climb to his favorite tree (it has a rope swing), then up to the top of the rocks where we look down on our neighborhood. He knows how to get to the rope swing and loves to lead the way."

Beyond: Horsetail Falls, near Twin Bridges on Interstate 50. "You climb up, up, up the granite rocks and...

Teaching cattle to eat weeds

While it may seem odd to think of cows as foodies, that is the idea behind an experiment at Rush Ranch that encourages bovines to eat more weeds. For Solano Land Trust, fewer weeds mean a healthier habitat, and that's a win for wildlife and people.
