A message from Phil Frazier, leader of the Grammy-Winning Rebirth Brass Band

Dear Music Lovers,

As the founding leader of the 2012 Grammy Award-winning Rebirth Brass Band, I am writing this letter to ask you to support the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic (NOMC), a charity that helped me and so many musicians like me gain access to health care.

To get on that Los Angeles stage, I came a long way. In December of 2008, I suffered a stroke and endured months of hospitalization and physical therapy. The NOMC was there every step of the way to get me back performing.  The specialists even found a way to include my sousaphone in the physical therapy sessions! THANK YOU, my Musicians' Clinic family (YOU, the donors) and all of the specialists who supported my long road back.

After Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (when a lot of you first heard about the NOMC) my little brother, Kerwin James, sousaphonist for New Birth Brass Band, suffered a massive stroke in Houston. My brother was in critical condition, a Katrina evacuee and uninsured. That Texas hospital wanted to discharge him...even though he was on life-support!! The NOMC staff came to Houston, met with the hospital and insisted they treat my brother and family with respect until he passed in 2007. In the helpless situation, the NOMC made the difference.

17 years after it began, NOMC is a lifesaver and still makes the difference. They give musician patients like me peace of mind through critical social services, same-day medical appointments, access to specialists, electronic medical records, and community health programming.

By donating, YOU (no matter where you live or where you're from) keep New Orleans culture alive. Your support IS the spirit of music.

Happy Holidays.  Keep Funkin' It Up,

Phil Frazier

P.S.  The NOMC's partnerships multiply each $1 you give into $3 worth of medical care. Please give all you can to keep our music culture alive and thriving for generations to come.

HELP US BRIDGE OUR FUNDING GAP!

NOMC remains uncompensated for the care we provide to uninsured and underinsured working musicians.

Louisiana's poor health benchmarks coupled with its poverty means that our patients are extremely vulnerable and need the NOMC now more than ever.

If you believe that New Orleans' culture is important and want to provide care to those who create and sustain it, please consider giving

Donor-allies like you keep our 17 year old promise to the community.
Together we keep New Orleans music ALIVE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
