Notes from Sunday's Sermon
"GOD'S GRACE IS RETROACTIVE" (Psalm 103:11-14)
Speaker: Rev. Craig A. Brown

The word retroactive refers to a past occurrence. It also means effective or operative from a date or for a period in the past. The psalmist gives us an exposition regarding the love of God as it relates to our sins. He says for as high as the heavens are above the earth so great is his steadfast love towards those who fear him.

How far is the east from the west? From north to south is roughly 12,416 miles. But you can travel in an easterly direction and never find a point where east meets west. Mathematicians call the distance between east and west infinity.

In the new covenant which is found in Jeremiah 31: 31-34, in verse 34 you'll find that God promised to forgive our iniquity and he will never remember our sin. The thing that really makes this impactful is that before he made the agreement he knew we were going to sin. He knows our frame.

He remembers that we are dust. He knew we were going to make horrific decisions before me made them nevertheless he chose to bind himself to a covenant that say he will forgive our iniquity and he won't remember or call to remembrance anymore.

When a person works an eight-hour day and receives a fair day's pay for his time that is a wage. When a person competes with an opponent and receives a trophy for his performance that is a prize. When a person receives appropriate recognition for his long service or high achievements that is an award. But when a person is not capable of earning a wage, can win no prize, and deserves no award yet receives such a gift anyway that is God's grace.

We didn't earn it. We didn't win it. We don't deserve it but God gave it to us anyway! God's grace is retroactive!

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

Our Foundation...
Fellowship "And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Prayer "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."

(Philippians 4:6)

" Worship Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe."

(Hebrews 12: 28
