Speculation: investment involving high risk but also the possibility of high
profits.

I have always believed that the icing on the cake of comics is the fact that sometimes they are worth money. They're entertaining and potentially valuable. I'm a reader first, but have always played the market a bit.

I love investing in modern comics, It's an endeavor I began in 1988 & have enjoyed incredible success along with horrific losses. It's an exciting emotional roller coaster that starts a new ride every Wednesday.  It's one of my favorite things in this world.

Here are my speculator-y picks of the week:

WYTCHES #2 (MR)

IMAGE COMICS

(W) Scott Snyder (A/CA) Jock
A busload of children disappears in the woods. A strange bite grows on a girl's neck. And the wytches are getting closer, creeping from the woods. Be there for the terrifying second chapter of the new smash hit, WYTCHES.

WHY take a chance?

There are a bunch of covers on this book. They all look great & are sold out at the distributor level. Buy the one you like best.

The one flying under the radar is Cover E part of the Image Floor display program.

Under the Program:

  • Retailers received a cardboard floor display compliments of Image, and  receive shipments of Image titles, to stock within the display. These covers have a slight / rare  variation.
  • Last week was Tooth & Claw #1
There are very few shops participating in this program, I do not have a list.
It is the same cover as #2A but it has a different Image logo on the cover. The Image I in a circle.

The print run on this book is microscopic. Seek these out.

BATMAN #36 Lego cover price variant.

DC COMICS

(W) Scott Snyder, James TynionIV (A) Greg Capullo, Danny Miki (CA) Greg Capullo
"Endgame," part 2 - it's a story arc so steeped in mystery, all DC would tell  you is the title!

I'll tell you a bit more.

WHY take a chance?

#1-It's a KEY battle issue. Crowd pleasing Superman vs Batman.
#2-Dual collectible. Lego & comic fan bases competing for copies.
#3-KEY issue for #new 52 Joker
#4-Part one sold out
#5-Killer Joker cover

It's an easy ten dollar bill

PREMATURE E-SPECULATION:
( dollar bin books that will deliver)

Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see
Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me
Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me:

When a comic book character makes a movie appearance it doesn't always translate into a big price increase.
Joker & Harley in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie are pure gold.

Key books are all-ready pricey.

Risk the dollar on Suicide Squad #14 with its die cut Joker / Harley cover

I'm going to be launching a public Google group shortly,  dedicated to the free sharing of  information related to comic book speculation. I've always believed that an educated fan base is best for the hobby. Information  shared creates excitement. . Excitement creates demand.
I do not begrudge anybody making money.
Tell your friends.
