An American harbor view with a distant lighthouse by Carlton T. Chapman is painted with talent and the experience of one who knew the sea well. The canvas is in well preserved and undamaged condition. The measurements include the original frame. H. 22", w. 16.5". 









   Carleton T. Chapman was born on September 18, 1860, in New London, Ohio and he died on February 12, 1925, in New York City.
    His artistic experience includes various associations with the Art Student's League, the National Academy, the Academie Julian in Paris, the South Kensingston Museum, and the National Gallery in London.  Chapman was born into a family of shipbuilders and his work reflected this family tradition and his love of maritime themes.
    His paintings are displayed at numerous museums including the de Young Museum, San Francisco; Slater Memorial Museum, Norwich, CT; Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA; the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, NY; New York Historical Society, New York and the Toledo Museum of Art.
    His awards include a Silver Medal presented at Boston, 1892; bronze medals at The World's Colombian Exposition at Chicago, 1893; Atlanta Exposition, 1894; Pan-American Exposition at Buffalo, 1901 and Charleston Exposition in 1902.

 

 Above, a pair of Louis XV period armchairs of the 18th century have just been covered in fresh Italian fabric by Dedar. They have floral detail at the crest, top of the leg. and at the apron. In sound condition with old repairs. H. 35", w. 24.5", d. 22". Ready to place in your rooms, $945 each. Sold only as a pair.

 19th century Chinese export  "Rose Medallion" platters in good order with no repairs. the top one is 13" by 16", $390. The bottom is 10" by 13", $179.




  A Sheffield tea urn, circa 1790-1820 with elegant neoclassic form in "bloody" (meaning, of course, some wear to the copper base material) silverplate. This graceful form is held by slender reeded handles. There is further reeding and a rosette on the spigot. A dove with an olive branch is engraved on both the urn base and lid. This one holds tea and the stopcock is working. H. 14.5", $275. You request is taken in the order received. Call or email early!
