Equality. Civil Rights. Freedom. Dignity for all, no matter what color, gender, religion, species, planet, etc, etc. For me civil rights is more than just a couple of words stuck together. And it's also more than just for the United States. The concept of equality for all means just that - for ALL: For girls in Pakistan who want an education; For South Africans who lived under decades of Aparteid; For the untouchables in India; For LGBT people in North Carolina; For the disabled, no matter where they live or what type of disability... This month's topic is civil rights. It's a tough topic, sure, but one that needs to be aired regularly. So here we go!

Price-intact DJ with minor wear to head of spine panel and a few small stains verso. Inscribed and signed on the ffep by Cleaver in the year of publication "For Bob & Barbara Hill at S.S.C. The spirit of the people is greater than the man's technology. / For a better, braver world. Eldridge / 10-2-68". A very nice copy with a great inscription. An astute culture critic, Cleaver collects here his essays and open letters mostly written from California's Folosom Prison in the 1960's.

The organizations advocated elimination of the poll tax and other attempts to suppress black voting, total victory in the war against the Axis powers, passage of anti-lynching legislation, desegregation of the armed forces, and other civil-rights measures.
Printed on the recto and verso of a single sheet of paper, measuring 22 x 28 cm (8 1/2 x11 inches). Two horizontal folds, otherwise Fine. OCLC records holdings in only four libraries: Temple, Yale, North Carolina, and Berkeley. No other copies in the market as of May 11, 2016. RARE.
