CONGRATULATIONS, ANKIDA RIDGE VINEYARDS!   

 
Amherst County's, Ankida Ridge Vineyards, was recently awarded a Gold Medal for their 2014 Chardonnay in the prestigious Virginia Governor's Cup Wine Competition. This is the first gold medal from this competition ever awarded to an Amherst County winery.  www.ankidaridge.com 
 
Ankida Ridge also has recently been invited to serve as a featured winery at the 30th annual International Pinot Noir Celebration 2016 (IPNC) in McMinnville, Oregon in July, 2016. Only 70 wineries from around the world are invited to this highly acclaimed Pinot Noir event.  This is the first time a winery from the Middle Atlantic region of the East Coast has received an invitation.  For more information on the event, www.ipnc.org  
 
Ankida Ridge is a family-run, micro-boutique vineyard and winery whose first vintage was in 2010.  They are open for tastings every Saturday, 12-5pm and are located 15 min west of Amherst off Rt 60.  


 
  
 



 
 



Tai Chi Program in Amherst

Sunday, May 15th, we have a Tai Chi and Qi Gung workshop at Mindful Mountain Yoga studio
from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Fee is $25 and includes in-depth introduction to the ancient discipline of
 
Tai Chi and healing practices of Qi Gung.

Tai Chi, which also developed as a martial art, is a series of graceful standing movements
available to anyone wearing comfortable clothes. It supports relaxed balance, assisting
immune health and a calm mind. Two exceptional guest instructors lead movements
whose teaching reaches back to masters in the Far East. The afternoon will include informative explanation and demonstration, with participation.

Robert Williams: TAI CHI INSTRUCTOR
Robert started his training with Sifu Calvin Buck in 1986. He continued training in Korea and Okinawa while serving 10 years in the U.S.A.F. Later, he was certified as a 3rd degree instructor in Phoenix, AZ under Master Leoni, Master Cook and Master Jin Heng Li. He has studied Longfist kung fu, 5 animal style, Tai Chi, Hsing-I, weapons and specializes in Bagua. He is excited to share his knowledge with others to enhance the quality of life through ancient holistic practices.
Robert is known for his down to earth style which offers practical movements that are applicable to everyday life.

Tim Griffin: QI GUNG INSTRUCTOR, HOLISTIC ARTISAN & BODYWORKER
Tim began his journey to sacred sites and studying holistic and oriental philosophies in 1992.
Personal meditation and yoga practice lead him into applied healing arts in 1998.
He spent six years as a Certified Massage Therapist while serving as an instructor at Natural Touch Therapies and School of Massage. During this time, Tim studied traditional indigenous healing
with Rev. Bo "Running Medicine Wolf" Pagans. Tim has been a substitute yoga teacher at Mindful Mountain.

Yoga and also offers individual massage at our studio. Mindful Mountain Yoga studio is located in downtown Amherst right off Rt 29, at 194 Second St, Amherst, in the former Amherst Baptist Church, now repurposed as Second Stage, a community cultural and arts organization. Home & Cemetery Tours*, Summer Refreshments, Country Club Pool (small fee for weekend family pool pass*). Bring chairs and blankets sit under one of our beautiful live oaks and enjoy a summer day in Virginia.
 
*Memorial Day Family Pool Pass -Pass is for a family can be used at the beautiful Winton County Club Pool Saturday, Sunday & Monday May 28-30th. In order to manage guests and make it comfortable for every guest passes must be purchased prior to Friday May 27th during business hours. Pass is good for one or all days, no discounts given. Life guards will be on duty. Pass is for the hours of 11a.m-4:00p.m each day. Great value, at $25 for single day & $50 for a family of four or less, children under 2 are free. Bring your own towels, there will not be any available, there are limited tables and lounge chairs you many bring your own.No glass bottles or cups in pool area but you are welcome to a cooler. There is restaurant on site (see hours on website) and refreshments available in pro shop. Refreshments for sale during
Family Festival on Saturday.
 
*Suggested donation for home and cemetery tours is $5.00 all proceeds  
go to the preservation of the Sarah Henry Home.
