Creating a Network of Caregiver Support
There are only four kinds of people in this world -
Those who have been caregivers,
Those who are currently caregivers,
Those who will be caregivers,
And those who will need caregivers.

Caring for a loved one can be physically and emotionally challenging. Knowing what to do, what to expect, and on whom to depend may help lighten the burden.

Venice Japanese Community Center was the site of the 2014  Genki Conference: Caregiver's Edition presented by Keiro in partnership with the Westside Conference Organizing Committee which included representatives from nine temples, churches and organizations.

In reflecting on the goals of the conference, Westside Conference Organizing Committee member, Jim Miyabe, pastor of Venice Santa Monica Free Methodist Church shared, "My vision was to address the needs of the many who are taking care of their loved ones. I wanted them to have access to services, be addressed emotionally, be helped to persevere and to be given some hope. My deep thanks to Keiro for the enormous resources you put into the conference to make it possible." (Umbrella of Care Spring/Summer 2014)
Given the tremendous response by the 300+ caregivers who participated in the 2014 conference, Pastor Jim reached out to Keiro recently when he received information about the  upcoming FREE Genki Conference: Caregiver's Edition in Pasadena  on Saturday, June 11 , and inquired if he could promote this conference and resource to folks on the Westside. Keiro's response, YES! Absolutely!

Keiro supports Japanese American and Japanese seniors, their families and caregivers with problem-solving approaches to manage some of their toughest challenges.

Attend the FREE conference presented by Keiro and the Pasadena Buddhist Temple, First Presbyterian Church of Altadena, Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute, and Pasadena Nikkei Seniors.
