Finance Coordinator

Part-time permanent (hours may be negotiated to suit your schedule)

Starting February 2st, 2015 at $22/hr

 

Role

This position will coordinate finances of the organization, support the membership and the public in participation with the CommunityWise Staff Collective.

Staff Collective

CommunityWise Staff are expected to work co-operatively with others; demonstrate flexibility in organizing work; show a high degree of initiative, discernment and resourcefulness; have effective communication skills and demonstrate thoughtfulness in decision making. Staff must be non-judgmental and receptive in approach, and reflect genuine concern, respect and commitment towards the individual and community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Participate with the Staff Collective (SC) in supporting and enhancing the ongoing strategic plan of CommunityWise.
  • Foster effective teamwork between co-workers, community participants, members and tenants with strategies to animate shared space and create innovative opportunities for collaboration.

Operational

  • Manage and support office administration services (reception, reservations, cash operations, IT services) as needed and decided by the SC.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings.

Financial

  • Responsible for posting receipts and full deposit preparation, as well as payroll, bill payment and issuing cheques.
  • Manage accounts receivable/payable records and journal entries.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Attend monthly finance committee meetings.
  • Work with members on their accounts and associated administrative needs.
  • Supervise the management of the cash operations associated with the administration services of the office and building as decided by the SC.
  • Contribute to the funding development strategy and operations of the building through research, grant writing and grant reporting in cooperation with the SC.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Calendar and Quickbooks.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks as required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Non-profit experience is a MUST!
