Long-term Care's Ever Increasing Price Tag
A survey done by Genworth Financial found that the cost of nursing home care has increased nearly 19 percent since 2011. Private nursing home rooms are edging closer to $100,000 annually and Americans are also paying more for other care options like home health aides and assisted living. If you or a loved one are facing a nursing home always remember to consult with an Elder Law Attorney first.
House GOP Task Force Looking at Possible Medicaid Changes
With the rising cost of nursing home care, states and the federal government are being forced to look at current Medicaid benefits. A House Republican task force is weighing what types of Medicaid reforms could be possible in 2017, with the November election playing a major role in what can be done. Reauthorizing some Medicare extenders could provide opportunities for some additional reforms to Medicaid.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, a bill submitted and sponsored by the Democrat party would expand the state Medicaid program to include an additional 500,000 North Carolinians. However, because key Republican legistlative leaders have said expanding the program is a non-starter, the chances could be slim that the bill will emerge from a House committee during this short session.

Boomer's Guide to Surf Music
With summer right around the corner, it is fun to flash back to when surf music reigned supreme 50 years ago! In 1964, at the height of the surf music genre, songs about big waves, hot rods and girls dominated the American pop scene. The Beach Boys, Ronny & the Daytonas, and The Marketts were all trailblazers in making surf music popular with hits such as "I Get Around" which soared to the top of the Billboard charts on July 4, 1964.
