Linda Leidel is a local artist. She studied art education, art history and studio art at Elmira College in Elmira, New York and received her Masters in Art Education at Southern Connecticut State University.  She taught art in the New Fairfield public school system.


Linda decided on focusing on the portraits painted directly from life for this library exhibit. She has been painting portraits over the past several years with an art group in Southbury.

 

The models are from the area and you may recognize a few!

 

Linda will host a reception on Saturday, November 15th.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Reference & Technology Librarian, Tom Borysiewicz.  Tom joins us from the Danbury Library where he served as a Reference Librarian for several years.  He was also with the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown and the Fairfield Museum and Historical Center.  Tom says he is "excited to be a member of the staff and more than willing to help patrons with any questions about history, technology or anything else you want to know."

EBOLA: LIBERIA - CONNECTICUT

Woodbury Library co-sponsors with the United Nations Association of Connecticut an informative program on Ebola ... its timeline in West Africa, and preparedness in Connecticut for any potential outbreaks.

AN EBOLA TIMELINE IN LIBERIA & RESPONSE ... Toby Gbeh, MA


LOCAL AREA PREPAREDNESS ... Neal Lustig, MPH


Rev. Toby Gbeh, a native of Liberia received his M.A. in Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations from Hartford Seminary, CT and has extensive pastoral and teaching experience in Liberia,Ghana and the U.S. Toby returned home to Liberia in 2006. He now serves as Acting President at the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville and teaches courses in Islam and Church History. "Uncle Toby," as he is called by the children at Quality Foundation, is a father and grandfather. In addition to his Seminary responsibilities, Toby is directly involved with the children and their parents. He returned to the US in March, 2014.


Neal Lustig is Director of the Pomperaug District Department of Health.


United Nations Association of Connecticut is a Chapter within the world-wide grassroots community of support for the actualizing the vision of the United Nations. It is one of over 100 such Chapters in the US and has affiliates in over 100 countries.

 

Understanding Your 
Best Friend

Phil Klein, Certified Dog Listener, will present a kind methodology for gaining your dog's cooperation based on its instincts. Learn how canines see the world and the underlying reason for unwanted behaviors like hyperactivity, destructive chewing, incessant barking, toileting in the house, jumping on guests, and aggression.

Learn the four main areas of canine communications, including the leadership signals that will eliminate or minimize these behaviors and turn your dog into a relaxed, joyful companion.


 

Bring your questions, but NOT YOUR DOG!

Drop in and meet the team members, learn more about the robotics club, and get an up close peek at MeccaMurf, Team Beta's robotic creation!  All ages

Make a Brushbot!
Using a toothbrush, a battery and some wire, create a little bot that wiggles & shakes all over. Try out the bot in an obstacle course, too!  Register as space is limited.

FALL PAINTING with the Golden Button Art Studio
All materials are supplied to create a painting using the colors of fall as inspiration. Local artist and Golden Button owner Kate Gorham will be on hand to give painting instruction and tips.

Nutcracker Storytime
Children of all ages may join us for the annual Nutcracker Storytime presented by the Main Street Ballet.  The story of Clara and her Nutcracker doll will be brought to life as dancers from the Main Street Ballet perform in full costume and Director Sibley Morosco reads from the beloved holiday story.  Children will be encouraged to participate.  Registration is not required, but is first come first served.
