November is National Adoption Month.

More than 100,000 children and youth in the U.S. Child welfare system are awaiting permanent families. National Adoption Month is a time to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care.

The Treehouse Foundation, established in 2002, is a vibrant Massachusetts based non-profit organization, dedicated to helping children placed in foster care find life-long family connections. Our motto: Every child rooted in family & community!

Over the past 12 years, the Treehouse Team has worked diligently with a wide array of stakeholders in the Commonwealth to improve the lives our our children and youth in foster care. In 2006, the Treehouse Foundation launched the award winning Treehouse Community - an innovative multigenerational neighborhood model where families adopting children from foster care live with older Americans. For the past 8 years, over 100 Treehouse community members, ranging in age from 1 - 96, have been investing in one another's health and well-being. The results: Children are moving out of foster care into permanent loving homes and a community where people are supporting their lives, hopes and dreams.

In addition to the Treehouse Community model, the Treehouse Foundation is also leading the Re-Envisioning Foster Care in America movement. Since November 2010, when the first REFCA Conference was held, the REFCA movement has been investing in foster care innovation. On May 20, 2015, the Sixth Annual REFCA Conference will be held at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA. For more information please visit refca.net.

Bishop W.C. Martin in Springfield, MA!

Part of REFCA's mission is to highlight promising programs and practices that help children and youth find life-long family connections. This year, Bishop W.C. Martin was a keynote speaker at REFCA 2014. He spoke about the amazing journey his church has been on since dedicating themselves to children in our child welfare system. His small Bennett Chapel congregation in Possum Trot, Texas has adopted 76 children from foster care.

People were so moved by Bishop Martin's amazing story that they asked the Treehouse Foundation to bring him back to Massachusetts for second appearance. The Treehouse Foundation has made arrangements for Bishop Martin to be in Springfield, MA on Friday, November 7th. The Bishop will speak twice: once in the morning to Faith Based Leaders and again in the evening to the General Public. Join us! You'll be glad you did.

Faith Leaders: 11 AM - Presentation, followed by a buffet lunch
