Routines - Good for Everyone

Routines help all of us to feel more settled and know what to expect. Create a routine to minimize stress, eliminate power struggles, reduce chaos, and help your child learn independence and responsibility. Routine charts can be made as reminders, using pictures for younger children. Having your child help with the chart will give her a sense of cooperation and teamwork. Periodically re-evaluate how the routine is working. Being flexible at certain times is important too. Try to keep it light and fun while still structured.

Fun with Fall Leaves

A perfect fall activity to get everyone outside! Collect some colorful leaves. Cut two matching pieces of clear wax paper. One for the top, one for the bottom. Lay out one piece and place some leaves on it. Grate orange, yellow, and red crayon over and around the leaves. Place the second piece of wax paper on top and then use a hot iron to melt them together. Punch a hole in the top and put a piece of yarn through to hang in your window!
