Andy Dill recently served as the President of the Community Chamber of Commerce of East Montgomery County (now Greater East Montgomery County Chamber) for ten years from August 2003 to September 2013. He recently began facilitating board retreats, while still an active chamber professional and started  Andy Dill Consulting after retiring in September 2013.
Andy will provide interesting and useful information in regards to the chamber and business.

Tune in to KSHN 99.9 FM on Saturday, May 14th for the annual Chamber Radio Day. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Chamber staff, directors, members and volunteers will take over the airwaves to broadcast the latest news, sports, weather and music. CHAMBER STAFF ATTENDS GCCE CONFERENCE
The Gulf Coast Chamber Executives monthly conference was held in the Space Center at NASA - Clear Lake on Friday, April 22nd. The conference brings together representatives from chambers of commerce throughout the region. Staff from the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce were in attendance.

This month's meeting focused on flooding and storm surge problems from hurricanes that affect our area, and plans to alleviate those problems. Bob Mitchell, President of Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, presented a program called Coastal Spine Storm Surge Protection Initiative. Known as "Ike's Dike", the effort is "a projected $6 billion coastal spine which seeks to protect the Port of Houston from a 10,000 year flood".

More information can be found at Texas A&M's College of Architecture Research Symposium site. Attendees were also treated to breakfast sponsored by Solodex, and lunch sponsored by Boeing. A tour of Independence Plaza, which includes the full-scale replica of the Space Shuttle Independence, the original NASA 905 shuttle carrier aircraft, and various exhibits was also enjoyed by those in attendance.


BOARD MEETING IN MAY
This month's Chamber Board of Directors meeting will be held on Monday, May 16th, 4:30 p.m. at the Dayton office - 109 S. Main Street across from the Dayton Post Office.

DAYTON CITY POOL

DAYTON GUN SHOW
Mark your calendars for the Dayton Gun Show, June 25th & 26th at the Dayton Community Center. Hours are 10 - 5 on Saturday and 10 - 3 on Sunday. General admission is $8 with free parking. Hosted by the City of Dayton. There will be a food court, gun raffles and things for the ladies and children. Proceeds benefit the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department and the Dayton Senior Center.
