your friends, and neighbors need to help clean the streets of Capitol Hill.

On The Hill
Alaskan Way Viaduct Closure

The Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed for approximately two weeks as a precautionary measure while Bertha, the SR 99 tunneling machine, travels beneath the structure. The viaduct will be closed between the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel and the West Seattle Bridge. For the most up-to-date information, visit  99closure.org.

Bertha Update: a s of 4 A.M. May 4, Bertha has tunneled 148 of the approximate 385 feet needed in order for the state to reopen the viaduct.  Follow Bertha on Twitter @BerthaDigsSR99.

This closure is disrupting local and regional traffic. WSDOT and other local transportation agencies are coordinating closely and implementing a variety of measures to keep people moving and encouraging drivers to plan ahead, stay engaged, and if at all possible, adjust their travel habits while the viaduct is closed.

Please feel free to contact WSDOT with questions by emailing the program at  [email protected]  or calling the hotline at 1-888-AWV-LINE (298-5463).

Thank you for your understanding and support. Whether it's working from home, adjusting travel times, carpooling with neighbors or biking into downtown, any changes in travel habits will help keep traffic moving.

Bobby Morris Playfield Renovation and Turf Replacement Pilot Project
Construction Notice May-July 2016

Seattle Parks and Recreation is exploring alternatives in synthetic turf field design and materials, which will continue to deliver a safe, durable and playable athletic facility. The Bobby Morris Playfield Project will replace the playfield's aging synthetic turf with new infill material, then test it for durability, safety, playability, maintainability and environmental health. The project will also make any needed structural repairs to curbing and base, and install new soccer goals and nets. You can find more information here.
Chinook Book

Chinook Book is introducing the Heart of Seattle Awards this year, designed to recognize Seattle retail and service businesses that set a high bar for what good business should be. We'll be looking for those with social and environmental priorities, ethical business practices, happy employees, and loving customers.
Finalists from the nominees will be chosen from a scored performance of the highly regarded  B Corporation Quick Impact Assessment (QIA) and  Chinook Book criteria. Finalists will then be presented to the public for a vote to name the top three winners.
We will be showcasing winners of the Heart of Seattle Awards during our annual Launch Party next January.
