Aiming to Close the Disparity Gap
|
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Minority Health's (OMH) mission is to eliminate health disparities among all Medicare minority populations, including racial and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, and rural populations. These populations often experience disproportionately high burdens of disease, less than adequate quality of care and barriers to accessing care.

Hand Hygiene Day - May 5, 2016!
|
On May 5,
SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands is celebrated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other partners, to encourage healthcare providers to promote and practice good hand hygiene measures to reduce the risk of infection among patients. This year's theme highlights the importance of hand hygiene best practices to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
The Medicare Learning Network offers a web-based training course on Infection Control: Hand Hygiene, on its Learning Management and Product Ordering System. Learn about hand hygiene in patient care zones and nearby administrative areas, including appropriate methods for maintaining good hand hygiene and how to recognize opportunities for hand hygiene in a healthcare setting. Physician and non-physician practitioners may receive continuing education credit for successful completion.
