SENIOR CLASS TRIP TO DC: Members of the class of 2016 spent the day in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, March 16. The class was accompanied by Mr. John Young, Mr. Jim Niederberger, Mr. Peter Bonds, Mr. Patrick Curtin, Ms. Hilde Keldermans and Mr. Nick Patnaude. One group toured the Capitol and was able to tour the Senate Chamber while in session. Two other groups visited the Smithsonian Museums of American History and Air and Space. BARON AWARDS: At Friday morning's assembly, Mr. Tony Brown announced the Baron Award winners. He presented certificates and lapel pins to those students who earned zero infractions during the winter trimester. Students who earned two or fewer infractions also received certificates. TRUSTEE AWARD: On March 18, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dickie Brawley '68 presented the Blue Ridge School Trustee Award for Distinguished Service to History teacher Peter Bonds. For more on this story, click here.

TRUSTEE MEETING: The Board of Trustees met on campus on Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18. The Trustees heard reports from the School's administrators, met in smaller committees to discuss topics like long-range strategic plans, budgets, and to learn about the progress of projects such as Phase II of the Baron Athletic Complex, the Chapel Garden and the expansion of the mountain bike trails on campus. Present at the meeting were (pictured above from left) past presidents and current board members Jill Kalinski, Cynthia Welden and John Gant, and current president and PA representative to the board Carol Hess.

GOLDEN APPLE AWARD: Spanish teacher Ms. Krystle Roach is the Blue Ridge School's 2016 Golden Apple Award winner. This award is presented to teachers from the public schools in Albemarle County and independent schools that are members of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). SPORTS AWARDS:  An awards banquet for the winter season sports was held Friday, March 18. For a list of the winners, click here

ATHLETICS: Varsity Lacrosse won their first away game at St. Benedictine 15-2 and followed this with a victory at home against Flint Hill the following Saturday 11-8. The team lost at Bishop O'Connell on Tuesday 5-11 and after a valiant effort this Saturday in a home game versus John Paul they ultimately lost 12-13. Their next game is Tuesday, March 22 at Woodberry at 4PM. To view the athletic schedule for this season, click here

COLLEGE COUNSELING: Junior parents - look for an email from College Counselor Carrie Woods on several SAT and ACT prep class options for your son.

PARENT WEEKEND:  Spring Parent Weekend is just around the corner!
