The sixth Oakville Triangle and Route 1 Corridor Advisory Group meeting will feature updates on the Dominion Power 230kV Transmission Line Proposal and Process, the Stewart Avenue Community Meeting and the planning process and schedule, a presentation of the Oakville Triangle Draft Illustrative Plan, and a presentation of the Mt. Jefferson Park Concept Plan (Mon. 8/18, 7:00 PM, Mt. Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave).


 
Agenda Alexandria's monthly meeting topic is "Arts in Alexandria: The Torpedo Factory and Beyond" with guests Randy Cohen, Vice President, Americans for the Arts; Matthew Stensrud, Chair, Alexandria Commission for the Arts; and Eric Wallner, Chief Executive Officer, The Torpedo Factory Arts Center (Mon. 9/22 at 7:15 PM, The Hermitage, 5000 Fairbanks Ave., reservations required).   

 

City Council will hold their second legislative meeting of the month where items of interest include consideration of a resolution to establish a Subcommittee to Review and Evaluate the Budget Add/Delete Process (Tues. 9/23 at 7:00 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).   

 

The Alexandria Veterans Business Enterprise Center (AVBEC) is holding the third session of their Speaker Series, which features veterans who are leaders in the Alexandria business community and beyond. This session will feature Francis Hoang, Partner at Fluet Huber + Hoang & Chief Strategy Officer, MAG.  The program is titled "From War Refugee to DC Entrepreneur: Lessons Learned in Search of Service" (Weds. 9/24 at 8:30 AM, AEDP/AVBEC Offices, 625 N. Washington St., Suite 400, registration requested).

 

The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors will hold their regular Board meeting (Thurs. 9/25 at 8:00 AM, 625 N. Washington Street, Suite 400).

 

The Eisenhower West Steering Committee, a City Manager appointed 12 member group of the community, was organized to provide guidance on the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan process, specifically focusing on the civic engagement process, agenda setting, outreach and communications, and some technical content elements, such as the project scope as well as development scenarios for consideration in the Eisenhower West transportation study. The group will hold its sixth meeting where they will focus on goals of the plan (Thurs. 9/25, 7:00 PM, Cameron Station Clubhouse Great Room, 200 Cameron Station Blvd).        

 

The second meeting of the Dominion Virginia Power 230 kV project Ad Hoc Work Group will take place this week (Thurs. 9/25, 7:00 PM, City Hall, Sister Cities Meeting Room).

 

The Old Town Business & Professional Association (OTBPA)will hold their annual "Supper Under the Stars," a community event held at King Street Garden Park featuring an Evening of Jazz with Al Williams and catering by Hard Times Caf� (Fri. 9/26 at 6:00 PM, King Street Garden Park, registration required).

 

The Groundbreaking for the Alexandria Police Fallen Officers Memorial will be held this weekend, a publicly accessible memorial honoring the 18 Alexandria police officers who have lost their lives in service to the City of Alexandria since the early 1800's (Sat. 9/27, 10:00 AM, Alexandria Police Headquarters, 3600 Wheeler Ave).
