On June 5th, eight women attended the first of this three part series.  In addition to teaching chipping technique, Don Pottle ensured everyone understood the "theory" behind chipping and helped with appropriate grip and stance.   They had the opportunity to practice short, medium and long chips and learn which clubs to use for each.  Everyone felt it was time well spent and looked forward to practicing their chipping and to the next lesson in the series.  Sunny Mills, our President, attended and had this to say: 

"Best chipping lesson ever!  Don was clear that grip/grip pressure, aim, stance, and posture are necessary for any stroke.  I now "get" how a pre-shot routine is critical.  He must be Sacramento's best kept secret!"

The second clinic covered Sand Bunker play.  On June 19th, eight courageous ladies headed to the sand with excellent results.  When you hear "this is fun" from someone in a bunker you know Don hit a home run.  He closed by giving us a preview of the putting clinic and giving us tips on how to read a green.

On June 17, 2014, we held our equipment demo and social at Haggin Oaks.  This event was made even more special by a guest visit from EWGA founder Nancy Oliver!  On this beautiful evening, she regaled us with lots of great stories about EWGA's history and its humble beginnings. What started in 1991 as an eight-week clinic ("inclusive of a glass of wine!") to help businesswomen learn the game blossomed into an organization, touching the lives of more than 100,000 women.  Thank you Nancy for your vision and tenacity!  

Kris Monaghan, LPGA Pro conducted a fabulous Q&A session on the latest equipment out there and the importance of being fitted.  She and Mark Ataberry, the Cobra Representative discussed what you should and shouldn't have in your bag and why.  Later the members got complimentary Trackman Quick Fits, gaining a greater understanding of their golf swing.  Haggin Oaks offers the "Quick Fit" which are short sessions on the launch monitor with key info, like club speed and launch angle, which they use to help customers choose the right gear.

Did we mention food and wine?  Yes - prospective members, veteran members and new members got a chance to get to know each other at this relaxing social event.  Did we mention shopping?  Haggin Oaks gave members a 10% discount in the Super Shop for the night only.
