JV InvenTeam

Last week, Energy's JV InvenTeam visited the University of Houston and met other JV InvenTeams in the district, including the only Houston Varsity Inventeam from Kipp High School. They toured labs around campus and participated in activities such as creating polymers using household items and conducting tensile tests on different kinds of plastics. The group was encouraged by Kipp High School's InvenTeam to work hard in order to make it to Varsity next school year. We are very excited to see this team grow under the guidance of Dr. Gibson!
EMERGE Senior Night

Energy's students attended Senior Signing Day for Emerge's Class of 2016 at Rice University .  It was an inspiring event for our students as they watched seniors commit to prestigious tier one universities such as Yale, UPenn, and Stanford.  Energy Emerge students have been hard at work all year completing research and preparing college applications.  We can't wait until next year to see where our first class of seniors will attend!

District VIII Parent Summit on College Readiness
Trustee Diana Dávila is partnering with the Family and Community Engagement Department to host the District VIII Parent Summit on College Readiness for your families. The purpose of the event is to give parents resources and information to help them prepare their kids for college and successful careers. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 4th at Jackson MS from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check out more details and information here!
Laptop Check
Friday, May 13th, we will have our final laptop check of the year.
We will be checking for the PowerUp laptop, charger, bag, shoulder strap, and battery. We will also be creating invoices so that students and parents have opportunities to pay for any missing or lost equipment prior to the last day of school.

Please ensure that the students bring these items to school for the PowerUp laptop check next Friday, May 13th.
