Menopausal Therapy

For decades, women seeking relief for the symptoms of menopause have had few alternatives to hormonal medication. Estrogen therapy in menopause is highly beneficial for many women and is excellent for relieving painful symptoms; however, a significant number of women, including those who have had breast cancer or have a high risk of breast cancer, cannot or would prefer not to use it. Thankfully, women today have more options, as researchers continue developing innovative new therapies.

Whether to use menopausal therapy, and what type, is a personal decision to be thoughtfully discussed by each individual and her doctor. These selections from Gyno Gab can help you become familiar with how today's available treatments compare. Don't forget to read the MonaLisa Touch FAQ if non-hormonal treatment may be right for you.
Hormone Therapy Should Not Be Compounded

Today's hormone therapies are available in numerous forms and formulations. Some gynecologists even write prescriptions for compounds uniquely designed for you. But are these compounded, also known as bioidentical, therapies really as safe as FDA-approved medications? Many experts are saying "no."  Read more.
MonaLisa Therapy Not Shown To Increase Yeast Infection Rates The Way Estrogen Therapy May

While MonaLisa Touch generally mimics the effects of traditional hormone therapy on vaginal tissues, subtle and important differences remain. Estrogen medication is associated with an increase in yeast infections. However, with MonaLisa Touch, no such increase has been shown.  Read more.
