The Swiss Colony began as a class project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the 1920s when entrepreneur Ray Kubly drafted an advertising campaign about a business that sold cheese by mail. Kubly ran with that idea after college, launching what would eventually become one of the largest direct marketers in the U.S. Over the years, the company expanded its offerings, prompting a name change in 2010 to Colony Brands, Inc.
