for Summer Service
!

St. Vincent's Academy student, Lily Kate Conneff, was featured in People magazine's Heroes Among Us.  The article featured Lily Kate and five other teens in Savannah who pioneered a project that has purchased more than 3,200 pairs of shower shoes for the city's homeless population, through their new charity called the Flip Flop Drop! This is a perfect example of what St. Vincent's is all about . . . we are so proud of you Lily Kate! Pictured above are: Front row: Brendan Mahoney. Alumnae Spotlight: Kelly Williams

Women Who Lead: SVA graduate, Kelly Williams '06, has decided to join the Sisters of Mercy! She is moving to St. Louis to begin two years of Candidacy, living in a welcoming community with four Sisters and another woman who is entering. She hopes to work within the Mercy Hospital network in various roles. Since the National Novitiate for the Mercies is located in St. Louis, she will remain there another year for the Canonical Novitiate. After which she will enjoy a year of Apostolic Novitiate, followed by temporary vows, then perpetual vows! The whole process takes about 7 years. Kelly remarks, "I'm very excited to begin the journey and it will officially begin on August 16th with a Welcoming Ceremony in St. Louis! I'm looking forward to learning all about the Mercy charisms, the history of the order and seeing where God calls me on this journey! I had a wonderful time at St. Vincent's this past year and God willing, I'll be back again!" Please send your prayers for Kelly during this special time in her life and ask God to bless her. Kelly is pictured front and center at her send-off with all of the Sisters of Mercy who attended.  Many thanks to Paul Camp for taking this photo!

Capital Campaign Allows for Wonderful School Imporovements

This summer, St. Vincent's Academy is investing in much needed improvements to the infrastructure of our buildings! Currently, the outdated heating and cooling system through the academic building and convent building (both classrooms and residential space) are being completely replaced. Much needed, new and improved windows are being replaced throughout the campus. The roof on the gym and a small portion of a leaking roof in the Convent Building have been replaced as well. We have already improved the cabling for internet access and will be assessing our technology needs as we branch out into "mobile technology" for students. Many thanks to all who donated to our campaign so that all of this could happen . . . very exciting!
