Education News: Getting Paid to Talk
On Monday, May 2, Medfield Community Education, in conjunction with Voice Coaches, will present Getting Paid To Talk , a single-evening, realistic and entertaining introduction to the world of voice overs. Attendees will learn  everything from the basics of getting started, working in the studio, effective demo production methods, and industry pros and cons, to where to look for opportunities in and around their community and how to land the job. They will also have the opportunity to record a mock commercial under the direction of a Voice Coaches producer.

Regardless of motivation, Getting Paid to Talk  is a great first step for anyone curious about Voice Acting.  Registration at least a week in advance is required to attend, and enrollment is limited to just 25 students. Register by calling 508-359-4809. Class fee is $49.

Voice Coaches at voicecoaches.com provides industry-leading educational resources, training and professional development to individuals pursuing professional Voice Acting. We are an industry leader in voice over production, voice evaluation, one-on-one training, and demo development, providing services to clients across the United States, Canada and abroad.

AACT Notification: Dan Castle and Mears Insurance Agency Licenses Revoked
The State of Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services recently sent AACT notification that Daniel Castle’s and the Mears Insurance Agency’s insurance producer licenses have been revoked. They are no longer licensed to sell insurance in their home state of Michigan, which means their licenses in other states are also void.

This action was taken due to complaints from groups that paid for insurance, but later found they were not covered. It appears premiums paid to Castle/Mears were not forwarded to the insurance carriers.

If your theatre paid Castle/Mears for coverage, it is important that you contact the insurance carrier listed on your policy or insurance certificate to confirm your coverage. If you are not covered, you will need to take action to get coverage.

Unfortunately, the state of Michigan cannot help you recover your lost premiums. You need to contact your local police department to file a report.

Dan Castle and his previous agency handled the AACT Insurance Program until he withdrew from the program in 2003. There has been no connection between him and AACT since then.
