There will be WOW cards in the pew on Sunday. Please write down what Jesus would say "Wow" about at Christ Church if he were to appear today.
This is part of our ongoing desire to discover what we are doing right, what we want to do more of, and what great ideas and dreams we might attempt for our future at Christ Church together.
You can fill out as many cards as you like. Every member of your family (regardless of age) is welcome to fill out cards and hand them to the ushers. We will also have boxes in the narthex and in the Prevost cloiste
r.
Then look for what we have learned in coming weeks! I
f you have questions or suggestions about the WOW card, please contact Shay Craig at or

"Benito Bonanza"
Companionship Dinner
Tonight at 6PM - McClain Room
Tonight we honor Bishop Benito from our companion diocese in South East Mexico. Everyone is invited to be in companionship, sharing a common dish, reading a common reflection and saying a common prayer. As an entire community we can act together despite busy schedules and rushed lives.
Our common dish will be an authentic Mexican meal created by the fabulous Tamale Express at the Evanston Farmer's Market.
- Ordered takeout? Pickup time is between 4 - 6PM in the McClain Room.
-
Can't make dinner at Church on the Hill? Dine at Depot Nuevo or Trendy Taco - Wilmette or, Guanajuato in Winnetka/Hubbard Woods area.
At 7:00 we will hear briefly from +Benito discussing issues in the South East Mexico Diocese. Then, from the Latino Union who will speak to us on their work providing services to those from Mexico (including +Benito's Diocese) who work as nannies, housekeepers, and landscapers in the Chicagoland community.
Thanks to those who gifted 23 meals to other parishioners.
Join us in sharing this common prayer before your meal and this common reflection
Dear God:
As we look around our table this evening we are reminded of how God goes ahead of us, providing us what need.
We are grateful for the regularity of our lives,
meals regularly served to us,
companions regularly engaged with us,
homes regularly warm and safe,
sleep regularly refreshing,
new days regularly given against the darkness,
work regularly filling our days with order and dignity.
We are grateful that in the midst of such regularity-
new words are spoken,
new adventures experienced,
new families born,
new relationships discovered,
new risks taken,
new healing delivered.
We are also reminded of the gift of those others seated around different "tables" this evening, those in our parish, in our community and in the world.
We ask for the strength to invite to our table those whose regularity is filled with exhaustion, fear, uncertainty and hunger.
We ask for the hope that seated at the table together we can all experience the newness that comes from the glorious liberty that belongs to the children of God.
Amen

Camp Chicago
Chad Senuta, Associate for Youth and Campus Ministry will join us on May 15 to tell us about Camp Chicago. He'll be available in the Prevost Cloister after church to answer any questions.
Where is Camp Chicago? Accommodations for Camp Chicago are at
Camp Stronghold Center located on 360 acres of land off the Rock River in Oregon, IL
.
Who should come to Camp Chicago? Campers who are age 7 - 17 at the time of Camp Chicago's 2016 sessions. Camp Chicago is NOT restricted to Episcopalians or regular churchgoers. All are welcome, so feel free to invite friends and family!
|
Many Episcopalians genuflect before entering their pews. It's an ancient tradition and we don't often know the exact reason why. When we kneel or bow before going into our pews we are not directing that action at the cross or altar, it is because the candle at the ombré is lit and there is sanctified host there. ("Welcome to Sunday", Webber)

Saving Your Grand Receipts Helps
Support Youth Mission Trip
This is a slam-dunk fundraiser because we all shop at our wonderful local grocery store (some a lot more frequently than others.) The Grand Food Center (Winnetka & Glencoe) has agreed to sponsor our mission trip and you can help! Save all your receipts and place them in the labeled collection cans in the Prevost Cloister, McClain Room, Youth Ministry credenza, and church office. The Grand will give us 3% of all money spent at their store (before taxes). This will be an ongoing endeavor so that we can build a base for scholarships and offset travel costs. We appreciate your support!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! We earned $517 in March & April.
