December 2014        Inspire - Innovate - Lead

Superintendent's Message
Our Call to Action

Dear Families and Friends,

Our Mission - "Together with our parents and community we will inspire our students to become passionate learners, creative thinkers, and innovative leaders who enrich our world."  We aim to prepare all students for college, career and community success through their educational experiences in our schools.  To do this, our teachers must instruct in a way that empowers students with the strategies, motivation and skills to become independent learners.  We must work together to ensure that our students have proficient skills in reading, math and writing.  This requires a concerted effort to reinforce daily reading, expand our vocabulary and ask questions that require application of knowledge, to name a few ideas.  Please join us in empowering all of our students to aspire to world-class standards.

Yours in Education,
Dr. Deb Kerr

Child Literacy - Take in a Good Book
Help your children get ahead by reading with them every night!

By reading with your child at least 15-20 minutes each night, you not only unleash new adventures, ideas and possibilities, you also help him/or her to get ahead in schoolwork as well.  When you talk about what you've read together, and ask questions about the characters, facts, or information provided you can help their problem solving and analytic skills strengthen.  You can help broaden their knowledge and introduce them to new things.  In a book, you don't need money or a plane ticket to go on an amazing adventure or see the world.  Plan your next adventure today!

For more information, please check out the Parent Toolkit on the Parent Resource tab on our website.
