Message from The President & CEO
"Graduation is a time of completion, of finishing, of an ending; however, it is also a time of celebration of achievement and a beginning for the new graduate."
Catherine Pulsifer

Many of you will be attending graduation ceremonies this spring. Maybe your children, grandchildren, significant other or friend will be graduating from university, college, high school, grade 8 or even kindergarten. All are a time for celebration.
At MCE, we too have had a lot of graduations to celebrate this spring and I'd like to dedicate this newsletter to our Future Ready Leadership graduates.
Since beginning the program in 2011, we are proud to say that we have graduated almost 600 future leaders. Our graduates have come to us from municipalities, manufacturing, healthcare, non-profit agencies and education, and the one thing they had in common was a passion to become a better leader; and this doesn't stop for them once they receive their certificate.
Leadership is a journey, not a destination. The journey may take you to places and situations you may never have dreamed of before. Along that journey, you may slip once in a while. It is part of the process; leaders are never a finished product. The best leaders believe in continuous development and learning. It is really the only way to succeed in today's world.
We sincerely hope our Future Ready Leadership graduates take pride in their accomplishments, but more importantly, carve time out of their busy lives to continue the leadership journey. This can be done in a number of ways; sign up for Future Ready Level 2 for example! But also through reading, listening, taking risks and venturing into new situations.
Many of our graduates have already taken on new positions, both laterally and as promotions. I expect many more will be doing so in the near future. But whether they move on or up, or stay in their current positions, we are very proud to have been a part of their Future Ready Leadership journey.

Tips to Enhance Your Leadership Skills
2. For those that don't like to read, there are always YouTube videos or Ted Talks. Check out our YouTube videos:
3. Take advantage of any learning opportunity your company or organization offers you. This could be a formal course or it could be volunteering to be on a committee. Look at projects as an opportunity, not just another task added to your to do list.
4. Invest in yourself. Sign up for courses, find a coach or mentor and spend time on your professional development.
5. Look for role models or leaders you look up to, and then model their behaviours and attitudes.
