Bringing Community Together

Although the rain and snow of mud season can be mentally challenging, when the tourists leave, it gives us a moment to appreciate our close-knit community. I am so excited about the launch of YVSC's community-wide Food Recovery Initiative. This effort to coordinate the collection of good quality uneaten food from restaurants and distribute it to food insecure people exemplifies the "neighbors taking care of neighbors" mindset in our valley. If you're interested in learning more and lending a hand, please join us this Friday for our kick-off informational event (see details below).

In addition to the Food Recovery Initiative, YVSC offers lots of other ways to get involved and make our community more sustainable. Our Zero Waste events start soon and are a great way to meet your neighbors and reduce the environmental impact of big events. Read on to learn more about upcoming Zero Hero volunteer trainings or go to www.yvsc.org/volunteer to sign up for a shift today!

Happy spring!
