Ever since our Women's History Month celebration we can't stop honoring Brave Women!
Maria Teresa Kumar (CEO/President Votolatino.org)
|
Maria Teresa Kumar is the founding President and CEO of Voto Latino and an Emmy-nominated contributor with MSNBC. In 2013, Elle named her one of the 10 most powerful women in Washington, DC. A dynamic community leader, Maria Teresa was named by Hispanic Business among the 100 most influential Latinos in America and by PODER Magazine as one of the 20 most influential Latinos under 40.
"Oftentimes, folks ask, 'Voto Latino has a lot of celebrity voices - why?' And I always say it's because we all have one commonality - we all came to this country either first, second or third generations, where our parents struggled to give us a better opportunity"

HEAVENLY BODIES
Tom Smith's exhibition Heavenly Bodies, opening at Rox Gallery September 18th - November 2nd, reveals an electric palette of colors and textures. Smith's techniques have evolved into a craft system that mimics digital or mechanical output, yet in person, viewers will be surprised to find that the work is completely hand constructed. When viewed closely, the paintings vibrate through opposing colors. One can make out tiny, gradated daubs of paint, or vivid strips of paper. From a distance, his paintings relax into a tapestry of melting forms.
