Longtime Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association and College Football Hall of Fame coach will be recognized Dec. 6 at the 59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City.
Longtime Voice of the Huskies will be honored for his distinguished broadcasting career at 
the  59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner.
The NFF formally presented University of Alabama head coach  Nick Saban with the MacArthur Bowl, the organization's national championship trophy for the Football Bowl Subdivision, during a ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on May 6. 

ESPN broadcaster  Brad Nessler (left) emceed the event, which included remarks from NFF President & CEO  Steve Hatchell, Coach Saban and College Football Hall of Fame CEO  Dennis Adamovich. Coach Saban accepted the award on behalf of his Alabama football team in front of an audience full of excited Crimson Tide fans.

The College Football Hall of Fame opened its doors Aug. 23, 2014, in the heart of Atlanta's sports, entertainment and tourism district. Adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, the new Hall provides visitors with a highly immersive, interactive and engaging experience using a blend of historic college football artifacts and state-of-the-art, interactive multimedia exhibits. The Blitz
NFF Board Member and Under Armour CEO & Chairman Kevin Plank, a former football player at Maryland,  will give  the commencement address at his alma mater on May 18.

NFF Board Member, former Southland Conference commissioner and current SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and College Football Hall of Famer Leonard Smith (McNeese State) have been named to the Southland's Hall of Honor's Class of 2016.

NFF Board Member and College Football Hall of Famer Roger Staubach (Navy) received the HeRO Award at the Genesis Women's Shelter's annual luncheon on May 6.

The National Football Foundation has donated an eight-foot bronze sculpture of early NFF leader and College Football Hall of Fame coach Earl "Red" Blaik to the U.S. Military Academy. Blaik led the Army Black Knights to three national championships and amassed a lifetime record of 166-48-14, including a seven-year stint at Dartmouth. In recognition of the donation, the West Point Association of Graduates inducted the NFF into its Omar N. Bradley Lifetime Giving Society. The sculpture was created by renowned artist Glenna Goodacre, and a formal installation of the statue will take place in the near future.

College Football Hall of Famer Floyd Little will be given an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by Syracuse during the university's commencement ceremony on May 15 in the Carrier Dome.

College Football Hall of Famer Curt Warner (Penn State)  will be inducted  into the State of West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame during the 70th annual Victory Awards Dinner on May 15 at the Charleston Civic Center.

College Football Hall of Fame coach Jerry Moore will be  inducted  into the Western North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame on May 15 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C.

College Football Hall of Famer Troy Brown (Marshall) will be inducted into the State of South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame on May 16 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

College Football Hall of Fame coach, 1984 NFF Distinguished American and 1999 NFF John L. Toner Award recipient David M. Nelson was named to the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame Class. Former football players Marv Antinnes (Wilkes [Pa.]), Bill Berrier (Juniata [Pa.]), Ed Dougherty (Lycoming [Pa.]), Tom Mitchell (Bucknell) and Andy Watkins (Susquehanna [Pa.]) and former Albright (Pa.) head football coach John Potsklan are also in the class.

Former Kentucky defensive lineman Vic Adams paid tribute to the lessons he learned from College Football Hall of Fame coach Jerry Claiborne during the late 1980s, which laid the foundation for his success today as a business leader. An article  in KY Forward captured Adams' experiences at Kentucky and his appointment as the interim president of Gateway Community and Technical College in Florence, Ky.

The Tim Tebow Foundation, run by the 2009 Campbell Trophy winner from Florida, is accepting applications for host churches for Night to Shine 2017. Scheduled for Feb. 10, Night to Shine provides a prom night experience for people with special needs.

2015 NFF Gold Medal recipient Dr. Condoleezza Rice  will speak  at Stillman College's 140th-anniversary celebration in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on May 19.

NFF Board Member, 2013 NFF John L. Toner Award recipient and Oklahoma athletics director Joe Castiglione  is among  the nominees for Athletics Director of the Year at the 2016 Sports Business Awards, which will take place May 18 in New York City. 2008 Toner Award recipient Gene Smith (Ohio State), Chet Gladchuk (Navy) and Bernard Muir (Stanford) are also nominated for the award.

2011 NFF Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award recipient Verne Lundquist, CBS Sports' lead play-by-play announcer for college football, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports at the 37th annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on May 10.

The Times Herald-Record profiled Army West Point linebacker Kenneth Brinson Jr., who claimed an NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award in 2015 and ranks first in his class with a 4.1 GPA in chemical engineering.
Over The Middle
2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee coach Bill Bowes (New Hampshire) was among those honored at the 29th Annual NFF Joe Yukica (N.H.) Chapter Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner on May 3. 

The NFF Greater Austin Chapter will host its scholar-athlete banquet May 9 at the Frank Erwin Center on the University of Texas campus. Former Longhorns head coach  Mack Brown will receive the chapter's Distinguished American Award.

The NFF Sunflower (Kan.) Chapter's scholar-athlete banquet will be May 11 at the Adams Alumni Center on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence. Jayhawks head coach David Beaty will be the featured speaker.

The 41st annual NFF Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter Scholar-Athlete Banquet will be held May 15 at the Boston/Newton Marriott. The banquet will honor 33 high school scholar-athletes and the 2016 recipients of the Daly, Schluntz and Burton Awards. Boston College play-by-play announcer Jon Meter-Parel will return as the emcee.

The NFF Northern Connecticut Chapter will hold its scholar-athlete banquet May 15 at Aqua Turf in Southington, Conn. Central Connecticut State head coach Pete Rossomando will be the guest speaker.

Bob Keropian, president of the NFF Northern California Chapter and former NFF West Region Coordinator, will be inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame on June 8 at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif.

The NFF Mountain Empire (Tenn.) Chapter will hold its annual golf tournament June 17 at Crockett Ridge Golf Course in Kingsport, Tenn. Proceeds from the tournament help fund the chapter's scholarships.
