Dear Street's Hope Supporter,

We hope your May is off to a wonderful start! This month we are focusing on our incredible volunteers who are the heartbeat of our organization. We simply could not provide our ladies all the incredible support and services that we do without our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering at Street's Hope, you can view the many volunteer opportunities that we have here. You can also sign up for our quarterly volunteer eNewsletter to stay posted on Volunteer News. Go to www.streetshope.org and subscribe in the email box (upper right corner).

One of our wonderful volunteers, Whitney Bryen, coordinates a group called Girls' Night @ Street's Hope. This group provides dinner and fellowship for the Street's Hope ladies on Monday evenings. We asked Whitney to share a bit about her experience volunteering with Street's Hope and this is what she had to say:

Whitney Bryen:
I first started volunteering at Streets Hope in January 2012 as a way to meet some new people and open my heart to God. I was comfortable in my routine and that made me uncomfortable. I decided to attend a Monday Night Dinner that was being launched at Streets Hope.
Now, I run Girls' Night @ Street's Hope, which provides dinner, fellowship and activities for the women and volunteers every other Monday. Our goal is to show the clients of Streets Hope God's love for them through our friendship and by giving them a break from the stress that comes with overcoming the challenges these women face daily. Who doesn't need a girls night every once in a while?
Turns out, I needed this program as much as Streets Hope did. I began volunteering the same week that a former client, now staff member, Laurallee Rucker began her journey in the program. Even as a client, Laurallee was always laughing. She trusted me with her stories, with her journey and eventually became a significant part of mine. She was vulnerable and hopeful and wore her heart on her sleeve, ready for anything God threw at her. She sets an amazing example for the other women in the house and to our volunteers by giving back as a staff member. I learned so much about life, friendship and love from Laurallee and from so many other clients over the years.  I am constantly impressed by their positive attitudes, hard work and motivation to change. Spending time with these incredible women is truly a blessing.

We hope you enjoyed hearing first-hand from a Street's Hope volunteer about how one can be impacted through serving our ladies. If you have any questions about volunteering email us at volunteerinfo@streetshope.org. Thank you and Happy Spring to you all!

Warmly,
