City of Anna News
National Public Works Week

Each year the American Public Works Association (APWA) sponsors National Public Works week in order to recognize the significant contributions that Public Works Professionals make to their communities. Additionally, National Public Works Week gives public works staff an opportunity to meet with our citizens and inform them about important Public Works projects, programs and initiatives.

This year is the 56th annual Public Works Week that the APWA has sponsored and the City of Anna's second annual event. This year's theme is "Always There" and highlights that Public Works professionals are always there for our citizens, work hard, sometimes overnight or in inclement weather to ensure that the essential services we provide to our citizens are "always there". Please join us at the Slayter Creek Park Pavilion on May 19th between 6 PM and 8 PM for this year's event. We will be serving hot dogs and will have some of our new construction equipment onsite as well. We look forward to seeing you there!
US 75 Expansion Project

road work ahead sign The US 75 expansion project is making its way to Anna!  The project will be managed by TxDOT and their contractors but we wanted to pass on some updates.  Please note that, as with any construction project, timing and phasing of certain improvement are subject to change based upon field conditions and any efficiencies that the contractor is able to negotiate with TxDOT.

  • The contract for the project (US 75 expansion including the interchange and the bridge) was signed on March 16, 2016.
  • Austin Bridge and Road is the contractor.
  • Contract time commences 90 days from the contract signature date (Approximately June 16, 2016).
  • The project time to completion is 884 days per the contract. This is based on 26 working days per month for a total anticipated project time of 34 months
  • The project is currently in the utility relocation phase.
  • The work that you see going on now is the TxDOT contractor clearing the right-of-way of brush or structures so that utility relocation can commence.
  • The City has approximately 2.25 miles of water lines that will need to be relocated as part of the utility relocation project.
  • The Anna City Council recently approved an Inter-local Agreement (ILA) with Collin County related to funding for the Utility Relocation Project.
  • The contractor is negotiating efficiencies that might change some of the project phasing but currently we are expecting the following to begin within the first 3 months of construction. Keep in mind that the contract time does not commence until June 16th so within the first 3 months means 3 months after June 16th.
  1. The contractor will begin work on the first half of the FM 455 bridge.
  2. The contractor will begin work on the Throckmorton bridge and the service road bridges over Throckmorton Creek (This section is in Melissa).
  3. The contractor will begin installation of temporary asphalt lanes near the main lanes so that traffic can be moved off the area where the future main lanes will be constructed.
We will post updates on our website and social media as we receive them. Thank you.
