Why We Love Our Work!love

An evaluation from a nine year old in a community service workshop:
"This was a great once in a lifetime experience. I had a lot of fun. I've done one before but I think this one was more fun. It was kind of complicated but I know that I did my best. Congrats BGE for your 200 year anniversary. Thanks for coming here, I appreciate it!!!!!!!!"
PROGRAMMING

W omen and children in Art with a Heart classes at the House of Ruth  learned about the Mona Lisa in honor of Leonardo Da Vinci's April birthday. Art with a Heart teachers challenged the participants to see the historic figure in a new and colorful way by creating their own Mona Lisa's portrait in the style of artist, Roy Lichtenstein.

Second grade students at Federal Hill Preparatory School enthusiastically engaged in an Art with a Heart workshop sponsored by Arts Every Day. The students worked in teams to create mixed media models representing the different landforms and bodies of water found on earth. From archipelagos to volcanoes, these topography models had it all!

COMMUNITY SERVICE
GBMC Community Mosaic Installation GBMC

Art with a Heart partnered with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) to create this stunning triptych community mosaic to commemorate the hospital's  50 years  of providing high quality care to the greater Baltimore community.  Over 700 volunteers including hospital staff, administration, patients, friends and volunteers from the broader Baltimore community worked on this beautiful project which now adorns the main entrance of the Hospital.

Teach for America's ROOTS!TeachforAmerica

Art with a Heart facilitated a fun and colorful art project during Teach For America's ROOTS (Realizing Our Own Talent) Summit for children in kindergarten through fifth  grade. Art of Leadership
A Retreat Fit for LeadersLeaders

Students in Art with a Heart's Art of Leadership Program attended their first group retreat this month.  Students shared stories, worked to identify their leadership values, and discussed issues facing the Baltimore community. In addition to the work, students had  plenty of time for fun and enjoyed a ropes course, kayaking and making s'mores during an evening bonfire. It was clear by the end of the weekend that the leaders had grown personally and as a community.
