Field Trip to the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce
April 19
Ms. Kroetz's 2nd Grade | Sugar Creek Elementary

Ever heard of Verona Town? Well neither had I until the second graders at Sugar Creek Elementary School gave me a guided tour!

Their teacher, JoBeth Kroetz, taught the kids all about community and what it means to be involved in the community. What types of businesses and organizations it takes to have a successful town.

The class came to the Chamber for a field trip to learn what a Chamber of Commerce does and how it facilitates relationships and partnerships between businesses the government and the residents. We had a great time! And, the kids were eager to learn and to tell me about Verona Town - a community they were building!

Their town is on display at the High School in the Sugar River Gallery through May 3rd and is well worth dropping by to see! They did an amazing job! It will be fun and exciting to see these future leaders in our community grow up!

And, a big thank you to Culver's for providing each of the kids with a token for free custard... it was a big hit along with the cookies we shared at the Chamber!

Kudos to both the kids and to JoBeth!

We still have sponsorships of all levels available! If you are interested, please e-mail Le at [email protected] or Jen Miller at [email protected].

Spin the Wheel
June 2-5
Hometown USA Park
Believe it or not, it's already time for Spin the Wheel, the Chamber's annual fund raiser and a staple of Hometown Days. "Spin" is a wildly popular game where players spin a wheel to win chances at more than 100 high quality prizes such as iPods, gas grills, patio swings, gift certificates and more.

The success of "Spin" is directly dependent on Chamber members. Here are three ways you can help:
  • Serve on the Spin Committee- Tasks include set-up and take-down at the tent, working the wheel, and helping to gather donated prizes.
  • Donate a Prize- (Email us for Sponsorship levels)
  • Donate your time- Volunteer to run the event and interact with the community.
If you or someone at your business would like to help with Spin the Wheel this year or if you have any questions, e-mail Le at [email protected] or call 845-5777 to get on the list. By signing up or donating early you can greatly reduce the stress level of the Chamber staff!
