Institute for Research on Higher Education, University of Pennsylvania (April 2016)
The University of Pennsylvania found that Michigan ranked 15 th in the country for college affordability. They also found that Michigan's public research universities are more affordable than most of their national counterparts, ranking 13 th in the nation for affordability.

The annual report on state funding for higher education from the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association is published. Data is generally presented with community colleges and state universities combined. Michigan's educational appropriations are still lower than the US average, but are trending in a positive direction.
 
Business Leaders for Michigan (April 2016)
The state's business roundtable has published a forecast of job needs in the coming future. Consistent with other reports, the jobs created in the future are predicted to need more education overall, but shortages will span all levels of education and both STEM and non-STEM areas. Notably, nursing is cited as having "significant surpluses."

Students in Traverse City, MI, now have multiple ways to obtain a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing within an hour's drive of the Cherry Capital. UM-Flint now  offers a BSN program in Traverse City. Baker College of Cadillac also  offers both BSN and MSN programs in Cadillac just to the south.

MCCA/MI Center for Student Success Regional Faculty Conversations
MCSS will once again be hosting a series of Regional Faculty Conversations during the third week of May. These conversations bring together faculty from all disciplines to discuss a topic of current interest to Michigan higher education faculty. The conversations are open to faculty from two and four year colleges in Michigan.
 
This year, the topic is " Transfer Issues through a Faculty Lens." The meetings will be held from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (lunch provided) in the following locations:
