Free Nurses Continuing Education Activity on
Safe Infant Sleep Now Available
The national Safe to SleepĀ® campaign (formerly Back to Sleep), led by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), now offers an updated version of the Continuing Education (CE) Activity on Risk Reduction for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Other Sleep-Related Causes of Infant Death: Curriculum for Nurses to help nurses and other health care providers update their knowledge about SIDS and other sleep related causes of infant death.
The CE activity gathers the latest research on SIDS and other sleep related causes of infant death and the safe sleep recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics into one place so that nurses and other health care providers can learn risk-reduction practices quickly and easily. In addition to providing key messages that health care providers can share with parents and caregivers, the CE activity also offers specific communication practices that health care providers can easily incorporate into their work day.
This free CE activity for nurses was approved by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Nurses who successfully complete the CE activity will earn 1.1 contact hours.
We hope you will take advantage of this free CE activity and alert your colleagues to its availability. Click

Nevada Public Health ECHO Series May 10th
12:00-1:00 pm PST
The Nevada Public Health Training Center and the University of Nevada School of Medicine present the Nevada Public Health ECHO Series.
The purpose of the Washoe County FIMR Program is to understand how a wide array of social, economic, health, educational, environmental and safety issues relate to fetal and infant loss on a local level. The goal is to enhance the health and well-being of women, infants and their families through improved community resources and service delivery systems.
The risk of maternal and infant mortality and pregnancy-related complications can be reduced by increasing access to quality preconception (before pregnancy) and inter-conception (between pregnancies) care. Moreover, healthy birth outcomes and early identification and treatment of health conditions among infants can prevent death or disability and enable children to reach their full potential.
