Paint Pops
Delightful exuberance defines this spattered print on silk crepe. Sunny yellow dominates with deep cherry pink second in command. The accents of teal give even more energy to the print. We see this made up in a dress, skirt or blouse for a cheery element in your wardrobe. Coordinate with basics such as sand, deep gray, brown or navy for a smart office look

Sew Along!
Jeans Junket
with Mary Jo

With insights from Jennifer Stern

Welcome to the Sew Along
 Renee Ann!

The group is tracing their patterns and getting ready to fit their muslins with the guidance of Maryjo.

Maryjo's muslin
From Maryjo
This is a photo of the muslin I created for my jeans....
I will be showing you how to make and fit this. See, I have bumps and curves, too! Also, that is a hard photo to take without a tripod or another person to help, trust me on that one....

Now, while we are working with the muslin for fit, wash your denim 4 more times. Whaaaat? Yes, wash it and dry it 4 more times. Recommended by Jenn, so that's what I did.

You should have decided on your size pattern based on your full hip measurement. For example: I have chosen the Women's size 14 as my base pattern. Adjustments will go from this.

     Pattern tracing

Trace your chosen pattern front, back and yoke onto tracing paper (of your choice, whatever you are used to working with is fine). We will be getting to the other pieces along the way. Mark all notches, dots, grainline, size, pattern number and piece identity. I also included my initials and the date of the project. Leave generous tissue space around the edges for adjustment purposes.

Great look for boiled wool!

"Here's a coat I made with a beautiful boiled wool from Sawyer Brook! It's a Donna Karan Vogue pattern, V1129. I made the coat in Laura's Sewing School, Arlington MA."
                       Sarah

Sarah used the SB fabric, Superstition, a boiled wool from Autumn II, 2013:

13-1013 Superstition  Boiled wool?  Look again...this fabulous knit has all the fine qualities of 100% wool, but is lightened and softened by the addition of rayon yarns.  We know this classic black will be a popular choice with our customers.  Choose this fabric for unstructured jackets and cardigans.  Wool/rayon. 55 in (D) $25.00/yd.

The coat is so chic, Sarah, and
the boiled wool complements it beautifully. Thank you for sharing
it with us!
