Dear Walnut Grove Parent/Guardians of 5th Grade Students,

This has been a unique summer with job changes at Walnut Grove.  I wanted to provide you with an update on our 5th grade teacher status. 

Eight days ago Mrs. Philips informed me that she had moved out of the area and was resigning her position at Walnut Grove.  We posted the position immediately and began interviewing at the end of the posting period, which was this past Thursday afternoon (8/21).

Yesterday afternoon I was informed that Mrs. Coldani had accepted a teaching position at Pleasanton Middle School, and is moving on as of today to her new assignment.  As we were already interviewing for one position, we were able to interview for the second teaching position.

Please know that we have completed our interview process and are now working through the procedure of hiring two dynamite candidates! 

On Monday, August 25, 2014, we will begin our school year with substitutes teachers in two of our 5th Grade classrooms.  I have been working with the district in selecting two competent and credentialed substitute teachers who will work collaboratively with our current 5th Grade teachers to start a strong and rigorous school year.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we move smoothly through this transition and welcome the new members of our 5th Grade Team.   I will keep you updated with information as it becomes available.

Please know that our Back to School Night for 5th Grade will be held jointly in the Multi Purpose Room on August 28, 2014  at 7:00pm (normal schedule).
