Welcome to the Children's Corner!  We will be sending a monthly newsletter informing patrons of upcoming programs and activities for Children and their Families. 
Featured Event!! Adopt-A-Book

November 17 - December 24 

 

Adopt-A-Book in honor of the child in your life!

We welcome you to help the library build its book collection. An assortment of new fiction and non-fiction releases will be on display for patrons
to "adopt" (purchase) for the library. A commemorative
book plate will be placed in the book and the adopting
patron can be the first to check the
book out of the library.

Opening reception is November 17 at 5:00 pm.
 

 

Homework Helpers
Every Monday - Thursday
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

 

Students from Connecticut College will be here in the Children's Library to assist school aged children with homework in all areas of study. This program runs Monday - Thursday 4:00-6:00pm on a drop-in basis. There is no fee for this service and no need to make an appointment.

 

This program will be held in the Children's Room.

 

      

 

Every Tuesday in October - Storytime Friends
10:30 am - 11:30 am  

 

Bring a cuddly friend to introduce to the group and listen to new and exciting stories each week! Informal playtime with storytime friends following the readings. Registration is recommended but not required.

Location: Community Room.

Every Thursday in November - Art Behind The Story
10:30 am - 11:30 am

 

Ms. Christa will read a story and kids and parents can create a related craft! Ages 3 and up with adult supervision required.

Saturday, November 1 - Brick Builder's Club

11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Saturday, November 8 - Create an Artistic Leaf Rubbing
11:00 am - 12:00 pm  

 

Using just crayons and some fallen autumn leaves, create a beautiful masterpiece suitable for framing! All materials are provided. No registration is required..

Tuesday, November 11 - The Library Will Be Closed

The Library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in observance of  Veterans Day.

 

 

Saturday, November 15 - Make A Turkey Headdress
11:00 am - 12:00 pm  

 

Hear the story Run, Turkey, Run by Diane Mayr and make a fun turkey headdress to take home and wear for Thanksgiving! All materials will be provided.

Saturday, November 22 - JFK Remembered
11:00 am - 12:00 pm  

 

Commemorate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy- Check out some books about this remarkable man and read about the timeline of events on this historic date in 1963. No registration required.

November 26, 27, & 28 - Holiday Hours

The Library will be open on Wednesday, November 26 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  We will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 in observance of Thanksgiving but we will be open on Saturday, November 29 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Saturday, November 29 - Practice Your Cursive Writing
11:00 am - 12:00 pm  

 

Step away from the keyboard, pick up a pen and practice the lost art of penmanship! Good practice for signing all your holiday cards. All materials will be provided and no registration is required.
