Introductory Message from Board Chair, Julie Sasseen
Julie Sasseen
We have kicked off our annual campaign for giving!! I am very proud of River Cities United Way and the great work that is being done in our area. It is an honor to be the 2014-2015 Board Chairperson. This will be a great year---for giving, and for Living United!

Your community is here and will be here to take care of you. I don't think a month goes by when I don't hear a great story focusing on how a community that we serve gives back in a time of need-whether that be a tragic circumstance or just a plea for help. I experienced the love of community in 2007 when I lost my son. This FOREVER changed my views on community and more importantly my role in giving back. If my community was there to take care of me---shouldn't I do everything to take care of my community?

IMPACT STORY:   Colorado River Food Bank (Bullhead City)

In July 2013, a gentleman came to the Colorado River Food Bank in need of food assistance.  He was new to the area, having just moved to Bullhead City from the state of Washington.  After seeing our operation and the friendliness in which the volunteers interacted with each other and with the clients, he expressed an interest in volunteering at the Colorado River Food Bank.  Through his ADVOCACY at the food bank he quickly has become a part of the team and is willing to GIVE whatever is asked of him.  He VOLUNTEERS every day that we are open and never hesitates to pitch in where needed.  We recently talked with him, expressing our thanks for all of his hard work, and the gentleman said "No. THANK YOU! You guys don't know how much it means to me to be able to be here and be part of this.  I left a difficult family situation back in Washington and now found a new family here."

Native Air Check Presentation
Native Air, a division of air medical service provider OmniFlight Helicopters, recently donated $1,000 by check to River Cities United Way.  The donation was presented by Casey Jack, Kristy Meusborn, Kit Borg, and Bryan Pennington of OmniFlight/Native Air and accepted by River Cities United Way President/CEO Lyn Demaret.  Ashley Wood and Board Director Chair Julie Sasseen were on hand at the event.
2014-2015 Kingman Kickoff

Thursday, September 4th - Many came dressed for the occasion in football jersey, representing their favorite teams during the 2014-2015 Campaign Kickoff at Mohave State Bank in Kingman, Arizona. Great food, many beverage choices, and the Green Bay at Seattle football game featured on a 20 ft. inflatable screen. Half-Time allowed the opportunity for several certificates of appreciation to be presented to companies that helped to make our 2013-2014 campaign a success.

We appreciate all those who joined us, and the companies that continue to support United Way year after year!      < View More Pictures >
