Bloomingdale Trail/ 606 Trail Work
Street Sweeping over Labor Day Week
Blue LIne CTA Work

Please be aware that today and next week there will be street sweeping for Bucktown north of Armitage and west of the Kennedy. Click here for the full schedule. If you are planning on leaving the neighborhood, please remember to move your vehicle.

The CTA's Blue Line continues work on the Damen Station. Delays and detours will cause disruption of traffic and trains.

Bloomingdale/606 Work continues this week. There will be an update on some of the work taking place later today. Frequent updates may be found here.

Happening now:

    • The Walsh Park playground is back open.
    • Crews have begun installing the steel for the for the eastern access ramp at Western.
    • A series of 21-day continuous closures are in effect at various viaducts so that crews can clean, assess, and repair the structures. Closures are currently in effect at Paulina and Wood. Detours are being provided for through traffic, as necessary, and a sidewalk is being maintained for pedestrians.
    • Major excavation and grading of the Bloomingdale Trail is nearly complete. Crews have begun installation of sand, subsoil and other materials on the trail top. The majority of this work is occurring between Artesian and Albany, and crews are also beginning work starting at Winchester and moving east. Parts of Bloomingdale Ave. may be blocked at times by trucks delivering soil to the trail top via conveyor belt. On sections where soil has been installed, neighbors will likely see fewer vehicles on the trail in order to prevent soil compaction.
    • Crews are installing lights under viaducts between Paulina and Sawyer.
    • Installation of the guardrail for the trail top has begun at Artesian and is working to the west. Foundations for trail top guardrails are being poured and installed from Paulina to Monticello.
    • Permanent traffic signage (stop signs, etc.) are being installed from Albany to the east end of the project.
    • Foundations and utilities for light poles along the trail are being installed.
    • Crews are installing infiltration beds along the length of the trail. These beds will aid drainage on the trail top and act as water reservoirs for future landscaping. Crews are currently installing beds between Sawyer and Ridgeway.
    • Bridge deck waterproofing is being installed along the length of the trail to protect viaducts against water seepage.
    • The arches for the Milwaukee bridge are being fabricated off-site and will be installed later this summer.
    • Crews are continuing to water the trail and enact other dust suppression measures.
    • Grading of the trail is nearly complete, with most work focused on the west end of the trail between Kimball and Ridgeway.
    • Neighbors may see spray-paint outlines on cleaned walls - these are repair indicators for the construction crews, not graffiti. Please call 311 with any graffiti reports.

      Coming Up:

The bridge over Milwaukee Ave. will be raised in the coming weeks to prepare for arch installation and removal of center piers.

Wolcott will soon undergo a 21-day closure to repair viaduct piers and columns.

Neighbors will always find the coming week's construction schedule at The 606 website under News for Neighbors. Call (773) 661-9172 with construction-related questions or concerns.
