English Department Transition
This week we welcomed Mrs. Candise Henson as one of our new English teachers.  She accepted our full-time offer for a permanent position to begin immediately as Mr. Gregory Lippiatt, previous long-term substitute, travels to England to receive his PhD from Oxford University.  She will teach the 10th grade English classes for the remainder of this year and continue her position into next school year.  We wish the best of luck to Mr. Lippiatt in his future endeavors.

Ascension Mass & May Crowning

The community is invited to join us for Mass to celebrate the feast of the Ascension of Our Lord on Thursday, May 5, at 10 AM.  This Mass will fulfill your holy day of obligation. This year we have added May Crowning to our Ascension Day Mass since they are so close on the calendar.  Maybe this Mass will even have a Cinco de Mayo flair!

Spanish Restaurant

YC's Spanish 5 class traded textbooks for practical experience this week by running El Restaurante Latino. Students spoke Spanish and placed their orders from the all-Spanish menu and tasted a variety of Spanish foods.

Special thanks to Mi Caldero Restaurant for the catering for this special experience. Gracias!

McGraw Family in National Magazine
YC English teacher, Ms. Tracey McGraw, was recently featured in the Spring issue of Net Play magazine.  The article highlighted her lifelong involvement with the sport of tennis and her volunteerism in the Tennis For Kids program she participates in during her summer break from teaching.

Ms. McGraw started playing tennis at age 6 with her parents and sister.  She played on her high school's tennis team and played intramurals in college.  She was happy to involve her father with Tennis for Kids as an instructor, as well as her son, T.J. '18, and daughter, Tennyson '22, who are improving their game.
