Some Dogs Come & Some Dogs Go
Hello again from all of us here at Fur and Feather!
Great things are in the works. We have had some successful adoptions and acquired some great dogs who are getting some well deserved tender loving care. When they go through a clear detailed health assessment, maintain consistent behavior and get some basic training they will be up for adoption. We will send out the word when they are ready for their forever home.
Fundraising Event in June
Fur and Feather will be a part of a FUNdraiser and Event in June. Janine McMurtrey from the
Gatherin' Place in Pie Town is going to be hosting this event. We will keep you all posted as to when it will be happening. Janine and Business Partner Brad are planning to build a fenced yard area called
Paws and Pies for guests, and customers dogs at her store in Pie Town. That way everyone's dogs can run and play, while guests are enjoying fresh pies and great food! Talk about a dog friendly business. Come join us for this Grand opening of Paws and Pies and the Fur and Feather fundraiser. You Go Janine!
Great Caretakers
Take CARE Of Animals
Our new caretakers are working out very well. They fit so neat with the workings at FFAA. We are so lucky to have such loving folks. They work well with the animals and have a lot of love to devote to the whole FFAA family.
The biggest issue facing FFAA is getting a larger home for Em and Doc. We were looking at a classic 40 foot single-wide trailer but that deal fell through. If anyone knows of someone selling or wanting to donate a single-wide mobile home please give us a call.
Thanks To Mr. Fischer
Because of the generous gift from Doug Fischer w
e are finally going to be getting some of our projects done this summer.
We have needed a bathing station to make keeping our animals clean and shinny for a long time. We have a good plan and and will be starting work in a few weeks. We will also be expanding our dog runs to accommodate more animals. We are lucky to have plenty of room at Fur and Feather. Em has a wonderful idea for making a park-like setting and agility course. Em never met Laurie and didn't know about our founder's dream. While looking through old computer files we found a building and garden plan Laurie wrote out to build. This is an excerpt from her plan:
Laurie's Memorial Garden
- A wildflower relaxation garden with one or two benches off to the side of the main building with a brick walkway and fish pond.
Em's ideas were so close to "Laurie's Dream" it was uncanny. We will be devoting a big chunk of time this summer for this project. Laurie, and now Em will promote making a place that is inviting for guests, and more exciting for our furry friends.
Creating Sleepover Cabins For Our Volunteers
We are hoping to get another guest trailer or build a few cabins so volunteers, who come out to help with projects, spread love around for animals and lend encouragement, will have a comfortable place to stay for a night or two. Wouldn't it be great if we could get a campout going this summer and build a cabin or two? It would be like a good old fashion barn raisin' right here in Pie Town, We think this sort of community -- sweat equity cooperation is something FFAA wants to develop. So if you are interested in coming out to lend a hand please email us and we will send you a list of projects, dates and times and what you need to bring to hang out with a few dogs, a lot of cats a horse or two, chickens, Dolly the donkey and François the cow, FFAA's budding Mascot.
