CMS Delays New Hospital Quality Ratings Amid Pressure from Congress, Industry
Following pressure from Congress and industry stakeholders, CMS has decided to delay its release of new Star Ratings for Quality until July. CMS will be gathering feedback over the coming months regarding the ratings' methodology, and potential mechanisms for refining the way the ratings are calculated.

UnitedHealth to Remain Only in 'Handful' of ACA Markets Next Year
UnitedHealth Group, the nation's largest private health insurer, announced that it will exit the majority of Affordable Care Act exchanges nationwide. United CEO Stephen Hemsley cites 'tempered' growth expectations in the exchanges as one of the considerations leading to the exit.

Patients' Hospital Ratings May Predict Care Quality

A new JAMA study shows that higher patient satisfaction survey ratings are associated with higher quality outcomes. Hospitals receiving 5-stars for patient satisfaction from CMS had lower mortality and readmission rates, among other indicators.
