Livernois Community Storefront: Open House + Folk Concert
The hub for all 3rd Thursday on Livernois events. They are featuring a performance by Lac La Belle, a folk music duo that live in the nearby Green Acres neighborhood.
Lac La Belle plays from 7-8:30pm / 19410 Livernois Ave. 

Aje's bold, colorful abstract work is on display through April 27th.  She is giving an artist talk and demo.

Love Travels Imports:  The latest fair trade art, crafts and jewelry are on display and for sale, plus there will be on-the-spot massage therapy at the store.

555 Gallery & Studios:  "Fresh" - UM Dearborn Student/Faculty Show
As part of University of Michigan, Dearborn's "Metropolitan Engagement Series," 555 Gallery is hosting the UM Dearborn Student/Faculty show, featuring works from the Applied Arts Department. Refreshments will be provided, as well as an eclectic range of performances by the West African Drum and Dance Society, the local Detroit band Narco Debut, and Vera Flaig on classical guitar.

Corktown Studios:  "Summer Revisited" Works by Alaina Plowdrey       
Plowdrey's work promises to break the winter blues by transporting the viewer to warm and tropical climates. Her works, including still lifes and selections from her "Swimmer" series, are sensual and modern impressions of the fanciful idea of an "Endless Summer".

This is a special event with Michigan writers who, in very different ways, have made substantial contributions to poetry publishing in the US. They will read from their own work and give short presentations about the history and future of their publishing projects.

Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD):  Kids-TALK CAC presents: POETRY SLAM  
In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center in Detroit is throwing its 4th Annual Youth Poetry Slam. Young poets from all around Detroit will participate in this competition. Both Kids-TALK CAC and MOCAD believe in the power of youth voice in a community.

Source Booksellers: Community discussion with Elena Herreda      
Meet up with Elena Herreda and hear her understanding of the economic, social and political needs of the community that she desires to serve. Elena is a member of the Detroit School Board and a social activist.  This session is a spoken literary art. Source Booksellers is dedicated to making literary arts visible.
