Money Matters

  • Recognize how to create a plan to achieve financial goals.

  • Recognize how FDIC protects deposits.
  • Recognize how to guard against identity theft.
  • Recognize the need to plan for unexpected death or disability.
  • Describe the ways to be financially prepared for disasters.

Pay Yourself First (Investments)

  • Explain why it's important to save.
  • Determine saving goals.
  • Determine savings options that help reach savings goals.
  • List ways to save for large-expense goals, including retirement, child's college tuition, car or home purchase, or a vacation.

Part II

Financial Recovery

  • Assess a current personal financial situation.
  • Identify ways to increase income and prioritize expenses.
  • Develop a financial recovery plan.
  • Recognize how to guard against credit repair scams.
  • Identify time frames to review and adjust a financial recovery plan

 

Loan to Own

  • Identify the factors lenders use to make lending decisions.
  • Explain federal laws that protect consumers when applying for a loan.

 

To Your Credit

  • Define credit and why it is important.
  • Describe the purpose of a credit report and how it is used.
  • Explain how to order a copy of credit report.
  • Read and analyze a credit report.
  • Identify ways to build and repair credit history.
