The Alexandria Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will hold their every-other-month Board meeting (Weds. 9/3 at noon, Economic Development Boardroom, 625 N. Washington St., Suite 400).  

 

The Board of Architectural Review (BAR)- Old and Historic District will hold their regular monthly meeting where items of interest include the continued review of alterations and additions to The Cotton Factory project at 515 N Washington Street by CAS Reiglerand a work session with staff to define Alexandria buildings of "genuine architectural merit" 

(Weds. 9/3 at 7:30 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).   

 

The Alexandria/Arlington Workforce Investment Board (WIB) will hold their regular meeting (Thurs. 9/4 at 8:00 AM, 2100 Washington Blvd). The WIB is a 42-member business-led board that works in partnership with local elected offices to provide direction and oversight to services funded by the Workforce Investment Act. Under the leadership of the WIB and through its public relations efforts, the Consortium is developing a strong relationship with the business community to address their recruitment needs. 

 
The West End Business Association (WEBA) will hold a Business Networking Happy Hour, open to all Alexandria businesses (Thurs. 9/4, 5:30 PM at Courtyard Marriott Alexandria Pentagon South, 4641 Kenmore, Ave., rsvp requested).
 

The Del Ray Business Association is hosting a series of free outdoor street festivals along Mount Vernon Avenue this spring and summer called First Thursdays.  The theme for the September festival is Del Ray's Got Talent...and Fashion! (Thurs. 9/4, 6:00 - 9:00 PM, Mt. Vernon Ave, more information).

 

The Planning Commission will hold their regular monthly meeting where items of interest include consideration of a request for an extension of a previously approved DSUP for Braddock Gateway and of the acquisition, subdivision and swap of properties on The Strand to facilitate the negotiated deal with the Old Dominion Boat Club (Thurs. 9/4 at 7:30 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).

 

The 12th annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival will take place this weekend on King Street (Sat. 9/6, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sun. 9/7, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
