Trails West! 2014 - Aug.15-17, 2014
Live music, great food, family entertainment
and much more!

The Trails West! Festival is set to blow you away with it's 2014 entertainment lineup, which includes alternative rock, country and blues-pop. Bringing together top-charting musicians and exciting newcomers to the Civic Center Park main stage, this year's event promises to deliver an incredible weekend of music, entertainment and the visual arts on August 15-17 in Civic Center Park in St. Joseph.

Rock bands Sponge and Live take the stage Friday night; country music stars Dustin Lynch and Eric Paslay entertain crowds Saturday; and festival attendees Sunday will enjoy contemporary Christian band Big Daddy Weave in the morning and blues-pop singer/songwriter ZZ Ward Sunday night.

"We are thrilled to announce such a fantastic lineup for the 2014 festival," says Teresa Fankhauser, executive director, Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph. "Trails West! offers a great weekend full of exceptional entertainment at a very affordable price. We are proud to continue with the tradition of bringing up-and-coming artists to St. Joseph."

Sponge has proven to be one of Detroit's most heavy-hitting rock bands, and has shared stages around the world with Guns N' Roses, Nickelback, Iggy Pop, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Kiss. Sponge continues to be one of rock's most sought after live acts, and front man Vinnie Dombroski captivates audiences with his powerful voice and energetic stage performances.

Alternative rock band Live's music catalog is filled with chart-topping '90s singles including "Lightning Crashes," "I Alone" and "All Over You," and the band had two albums that reached no. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. After a four year hiatus, the band reformed in 2012 and has re-invigorated its sound with effusive energy and massive hooks.

One of country music's hottest rising stars, singer-songwriter Dustin Lynch is topping charts with "Cowboys and Angels" and "She Cranks My Tractor." Lynch earned a 2013 CMT Music Award nomination for "Breakthrough Video of the Year" as well as two 2012 Fox American Country Award nominations for "Single of the Year - New Artist" and "Video of the Year - New Artist."

Country music singer-songwriter Eric Paslay's single, "Friday Night," hit no. 1 on the Mediabase 24/7 country chart in January 2014 and "Song About a Girl" is getting radio play now. He has toured with country music stars Little Big Town, The Eli Young Band, Jake Owen and others.

Sunday morning's worship service will feature Big Daddy Weave, a contemporary Christian band with more than a decade of hits like "In Christ," "Audience of One," "You're Worthy of My Praise" and more. They are one of the 10 most played artists on Christian radio over the past decade and most recently hit the top of the Christian AC chart with "Love Come to Life."

The festival's entertainment concludes Sunday evening with ZZ Ward, whose unique blues-meets-hip-hop artistry is selling out headline tours in the U.S. Her current single, "365 Days," is quickly rising in multiple radio formats and her songs have been featured on Nashville, The Voice, Pretty Little Liars, The Good Wife, The Client List, Awkward, Mob Wives and in the feature film We're the Millers.

Admission to the festival is by souvenir button or 2014 Trails West! T-shirt. The buttons, good for admission to all three days of the festival, are $8 in advance and $10 at the festival gates. All festival guests over the age of 10 will need a button for admission. Trails West! T-shirts must be purchased in advance and can be worn to the festival as an alternative option to purchasing an admission button.

Enjoy more live entertainment at Trails West! on the City and Family Stages!

One stage of entertainment just isn't enough for Trails West! They had to have 3 different stages with even more entertainment options.

"We've got a great combination of local favorites and national touring acts on the City Stage and Family Stage this year," said Sarah Stockett, entertainment chair for Trails West! "Our goal was to broaden the appeal and provide entertainment for all kinds of people, and I think we've done that."

Journey Resurrection will be one of the highlights, Stockett said. Whether you're a hard-core Journey fan or just want to revisit some musical memories, Journey Resurrection will transport you back in time to the look, feel and sound of Journey concerts of the 1980s. They will open Trails West! at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 on the City Stage.

Another highlight will be T. Texas Terry's unique brand of cowboy comedy. Terry will take to the Family Stage at 12:15 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. He's a veteran performer who opened for Brooks & Dunn on their "Neon Circus" tour and has won the "National Wild Western Arts Comedy Award" and Harrah's "Entertainer of the Year."

In addition to those national acts, the St. Joseph region's rich live music scene will be featured, with performances by local bands like Blue Oyster Culture Club, Dsodean, Eyelit and others.

Entertainment on the City Stage and Family Stage will end before each Main Stage entertainer performs.
