MAY 2015
NBC_s OpenRoad with Doug McConnell
Most of my workdays are spent in the office, and so it is always a treat when I get out on the land. Acting as tour guide to NBC OpenRoad's Doug McConnell at Rockville Trail Preserve was extra special.

Thank you for your help to protect Rockville Trails Preserve! I was so proud to be able to share the work that we have accomplished together with Mr. McConnell and his team, and can't wait until the greater Bay Area sees how lucky we are to live in this special place.

A windy and wild day filming for OpenRoad with Doug McConnell

Rockville Trails Preserve, Solano Land Trust's newest protected land, is the result of a common vision. It is also quite photogenic. That is why it was chosen as a location to film a segment for OpenRoad with Doug McConnell. Tune in to NBC Bay Area on Sunday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. for an adventure in Solano County.

The final product is fun to see, but it doesn't reflect...

One clover, and a bee.
 And revery.
The revery alone will do,
If bees are few.

There are 12 species of bumble bees native to our area. Bees pollinate fruits, nuts, and vegetables, and their health is crucial to an agricultural area like ours. While these busy friends can find habitat at any one of Solano Land Trust's natural parks and conserved lands, there are also several ways that you can help boost the health and population of native pollinators in your own backyard...

Young at heart hit the trail
Lynch Canyon Trail Run attracts ages 7 to 85

Judy Shaw turned 75 this year. But that number hasn't stopped her from being active and enjoying life.

For example, last June Judy chalked up a bunch of firsts. She ran her first 10K, a race that marked her first time running on a trail instead of a street, and her first time participating in the Lynch Canyon Trail Run.

To improve on her two-hour finish time from last year...
